Shift Your Shopping

Shift Your Shopping encourages residents and businesses to make a "Shift" by buying from local independent businesses for the holiday season. Shift Your Shopping offers a simple, powerful way to boost our economy and preserve and create jobs in our local communities.

The campaign encourages residents to take job creation and economic concerns into their own hands by exercising their power to strengthen their own local economies.

To exemplify how a shift in shopping is a gift to our community, PVLF and its members partnered with Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) in a Think Local Thank Local effort last year to donate to CISA's Emergency Farm Fund to assist those farmers who were affected by Tropical Storm Irene. This year, PV Local First and its members will be donating to the Food Bank of Western Mass.

This growing list of local businesses are participating in this year's Think Local, Thank Local campaign to help fund the Food Bank of Western Mass:

A 2 Z Science & Learning Store

Broadside Bookshop

CardPay

Esselon Cafe

Hadley Garden Center

Hickory Dell Farm

Indigo Coffee

Odyssey Bookshop

Pennyfarthing Investment Management, L.L.C.

River Valley Market

The Muse Custom Framing

Their donations will help more of our neighbors get enough to eat this winter.

This is the second year of an unprecedented collaboration among the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) and Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), two great advocates for local independent business by promoting the Shift Your Shopping Campaign. Representing over 38,000 locally owned and independent businesses across the U.S. and Canada. Shift Your Shopping kicked off November 1 and extends through the end of December.
