We opened in 1997 with a simple pub-style menu and a brewery squeezed into our kitchen and basement. Now we brew over on Hope Street, our beers are available here in the Pioneer Valley and east into Boston, and our menu has a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts to satisfy and nourish you.
Whenever possible we serve food grown & produced locally & often organically.
Sourced from Greenfield, we serve Snow's Ice Cream, Pierce Brothers coffee and Artisan Beverage Cooperative's Ginger Libation. Our t-shirts are printed next door, our grass-fed beef is raised at nearby Foxbard and Wheelview farms, Mapleline Farm in Hadley supplies our dairy products. We get apples, pears and peaches from Pine Hill and Apex orchards, and hard cider from West County Cider.
Many of our dishes are oriented around seasonal vegetables and fruits supplied by over 40 area farmers including: Atlas and Enterprise Farms in South Deerfield, Jekanowski and Czajowoski farms in Hadley, Red Fire Farm in Granby, the Gill Greenery, Apex and Pine Hill Orchards and Warner Farm in Sunderland. We also serve cheeses from artisans throughout New England.
We also prioritize producing as little waste as possible while providing you with all that house-made soda, freshly brewed beer, and tasty food. You might have noticed that no disposable plastic and a minimum of paper products appear at your table. And you may be pleased to know that all kitchen and dining room food scraps plus our brewery grains are composted or fed to area pigs, chickens and cows. We offer biodegradable straws and to-go boxes upon request and many of our staff ride bikes and walk to work. And of course, all plastic, cardboard, glass and metal is recycled. As a result, even on our busiest night, we have not created more than one barrel of trash.
We hope that the knowledge of your participation in our ongoing acts of economical
and environmental goodwill enhances the time you spend at The People's Pint.
Click here to see a great video of a talk Alden Booth gave at the 2011 Ignite Amherst event. I have to say it is several minutes of pure poetry about community, bikes, beer and local farms.
Our beer and soda we make in our 15 bbl brewery nearby on Hope Street. We have brewed over 70 styles of beer since opening in 1997. Brewery tours for groups are available by appointment.
