"The GCC Foundation is probably the most important reason our community college is such a great one. We not only give funds to the College, we spread the good word about it." -- Jean Cummings, honorary member of the GCC Foundation Board of Directors

How gifts to the GCC Foundation are used:

Scholarships. The flexibility of Foundation scholarship funds helps deserving students realize their dreams.

Endowment. The Foundation committed to grow the endowment from $1.5 million to $5 million by 2003, and $10 million by 2005 to secure GCC's future as well as serve as a buffer against the unpredictability of state support for GCC and higher education.

Professional development. Foundation funds ensure the continuing excellence of a faculty and staff who are 100% dedicated to teaching and to meeting students' needs.

The Library. The GCC Library has turned to the GCC Foundation for the funds it requires to sustain the high level of library services necessary for academic excellence. Visit the Library.

Women in Transition Program. There aren't many safety nets in our society, but the WIT program at GCC keeps women in school with a variety of resources, services and support. Learn more about the program.

The President's Fund. Support from the Foundation allows the president to restore programs and services that become victims of state budget cuts.

Since 1968, the Greenfield Community College Foundation has invested in the dreams of students who work, students who cannot afford tuition, students who cannot travel to other educational institutions-people for whom higher education is otherwise beyond the borders of their personal geographies.

Led by Executive Director Allen J. Davis, Ed.D., a dedicated and hard-working staff of just three people carry out an awesome agenda of events and activities that raise funds and visibility for the College. Recent accomplishments include:

The 45th Anniversary Campaign. This year's campaign, led by Chair Diane Esser (alumna) and Vice-Chair Ira Mitchel ('78) surpassed the Foundation's $800,000 goal, bringing in $867,788 from 1,195 donors.

The Scholarship Award Ceremony. Every spring, a capacity crowd of nearly 200 people gather to award scholarships to outstanding students, and to honor alumni and friends of Greenfield Community College. Next year's ceremony will be held on April 26, 2009.

The GCC Foundation Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting in the fall attracts celebrated speakers, Foundation members and friends for an evening of review, planning, and inspiration for the challenges of the coming year. This year's meeting will be held October 2, 2008. The speaker will be Alex Wilson, who will talk about the environment (exact title to be announced soon). Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 5:30, dinner at 6:15 and the program will begin at 7:00. The cost to attend is $22/per person. Please email Andrea Carlin at CarlinA@gcc.mass.edu to sign up.

The Annual "Striving and Driving for GCC Scholars" Golf Tournament. In 2007, a sold-out slate of 144 enthusiastic golfers raised $30,000 for student scholarships, a record amount.
