Amherst Books is a locally owned, independent bookshop. We sell new & used books. Our particular strengths include poetry, literature, & philosophy. We carry a large selection of small press titles & literary journals.

Besides our fine trade inventory, we sell textbooks for Amherst College, Hampshire College, & the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. If you have questions about textbooks, please see our textbook page on our website.

We now sell Peter Pan bus tickets to all destinations in the United States & Canada. Schedules for busses in New England (& some other Northeast Corridor destinations) may be found here. If you can't find a destination you're looking for give us a call!

Discounts
We give a 10% discount to all local K-12, college & university faculty, support staff, as well as graduate students, & senior citizens. Professors who order textbooks from us get a 20% discount. Please identify yourself as such at time of purchase.

Hours of Operation
Monday-Saturday: 6:30 A.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Sunday: 6:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

N.B. On evenings that we have events scheduled at 8:00 P.M.
we close at 8:00 for browsing & purchases until the event is over.
