Up-Coming Cooking Classes Using Local Ingredients

Hi all,

Hope your holidays were bright and you are ready for a healthy happy new year.

Due to popular demand, I am repeating my Creative Cooking with Sea Vegetables class and also teaching a new one, Main Course Savory Baking. As usual, many of the ingredients that I will use will be local, seasonal and organic. Hope you can join me and take advantage of early bird discounts for these classes: $50, if registered 2 weeks in advance or $65 for each class. Please note new class times!

Help us build the new economy - a local living economy - in 2009!

December 23, 2008

Dear Friends:

Local living economies have clearly emerged as a leading instrument in creating the new economy. BALLE and our networks, along with many strategic partners, are working throughout North America building sustainable sources of community wealth and creating enterprises and jobs with economies that are local, green, and fair. Collectively we know how to build these economies, and we're looking to create even more successes in 2009.

The average food product purchased at gourmet box stores has traveled 1200 miles prior

Clean Energy Conference in Springfield Nov. 22 Aims to Boost Pioneer Valley Economy

Increasing our use of clean energy is a great way to keep Pioneer Valley residents' money in the Valley. Solar and wind power companies and energy efficiency programs can keep money that we now send out of our region for oil and coal here in the Valley. Clean energy jobs is the topic of the Clean Energy Connections Conference and Opportunity Fair next month in Springfield. The event is on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the MassMutual Center. It is organized by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
